Hua Jai: The Exhibition

At a time when the world is driven by commercialism, several artists stumble upon acquiring visible space on social media. It is undeniable that social media closes the gap between entrepreneurs and customers, artists and their target audience, but social media also influences the way society sees ‘arts’ nowadays. The value of art is now consumed by the idea of consumerism and judged by the number of likes, shares, reaches, comments, and views on social media. Thai society later begins to fade the artistic

values in artworks out, resulting in the decline of free artistic spaces in Thailand. In 2018, the Thai government attempted to close down Bangkok Arts and Cultural Centre known as BACC just to accumulate protests all over the nation. Arts are now less valued, yet young artists have fewer spaces for their voices to be echoed.
